The Personal History of David Copperfield is the brand new film by Armando Iannucci. It is superb! I expected it to be a not-so-good comedy, with poor acting and a storyline which doesn't quite work, when in reality it is a brilliant film. There is once scene of bloood, in which blood is spread around a man's body. All we can really see is stains, but you can see it for a mere 4 minutes. Swearing is not a problem if that is what you are worried about, as childish insults are used instead of full blown swearing, the very opposite of Armando Iannucci's The Thick of It. In one scene, it is implied that a man has beat a boy. This is very shocking. 9/10.

I thought David Copperfield was a Charles Dickens character. Why is David Copperfield an Indian. That slapbattle though.

Dickens saw Copperfield in himself (the initials are reversed) so this is like getting Martin Luther King played by Alec Baldwin. Wow. Nice noticing of the music. It was incredibly Britten/ Vaughn-Williamsy. I thought it added an epic grandiosity to the film, while staying true to the Englishness of its narrative. Every aspect of this film was beautifully put together. Hugh Laurie could play Dr. Emmett Brown in a British BTTF... I wonder if all the people moaning about Dev Patel portraying a fictional character from a book were just as angry when Armando Iannucci had British and American people portray Russians who actually existed in The Death of Stalin? Or does it only become an issue when non-white people are involved.

Bizzare and confusing. It was a struggle to get through this. Lost interest has a dozen times and started checking Facebook on my phone. I have no idea what this movie was about. I only liked how it ended... When did David Copperfield become non-white. Oh Gosh i thought it was the untold story of david copperfield the magician... Hugh Laurie as Mr Dick. shouldn't be too hard of a role for House😂😂. GO WOKE, GO BROKE It's not WHAT you're doing. It's WHY you're doing it... Kon kon engineer Mirza ali ko sun kr yahan aya.

Your amazing and i a big fan of your sir from india 🇮🇳😍stay safe. As a fan of Dickens this is a dislocated version of one of the greatest stories he ever wrote. This is billed as a comedy drama but there is nothing of either. It just looks like the producers were trying to include as many different ethnic actors as possible without bothering about the quality of the story line. For my next trick. watch this POO go in the LOO. I watched is last weekend on rent. I have to say I really enjoyed it so good Dr is right.

I saw this yesterday with my family. We all loved it. Warning - dont scroll down this comment section is full of brexit voters complaining about the fact that 10% of this films cast is not white p.s: armardo (the director) has said that he casted dev patel because he pretty much wrote the role with him in mind, thinking he would be brilliant in it. this has nothing to do with ‘PC gone mad or ‘affirmative action in casting. What a bloody brilliant adaptation. Absolutely joyous. Where is the Damn magic. Finally a good one. So saying haich for the letter H is a regional brit thing? Mark E. Smith pronounced it haich when he was reading off the football results and i figured he was just drunk. I loved the book by Charles Dickens. I cannot wait to see this movie. I've been waiting what feels like ages. 🧡.

So the movie was great and entertaining, though nothing unforgettable, but it was really good except for one detail.
And that detail makes me wonder for future movies if let's say Barrack Obama will be personified by a chinese actor, with a latin Michelle, having maori and white children. Two things to look forward to, seeing this next week for the princely sum of 2 quid and also rubbing my hands at the thought of Iannucchi slapping down Horsey McHorseface on twitter if he whinneys on about the casting choices in this production.
